SCHOOL POLICY

  1. Academic Aspect
The School seeks to educate, and not merely teach our students, as it is important to prepare them to be good, useful and intelligent citizens.

We recognize the academic ability of our students and the demands of today’s world and we will tailor our curriculum to best suit them.

  1. Non-Academic Aspect
    1. Moral And Social Values
The School desires to instill in our students moral and social values and aspirations of our society and for these to be practiced in their relations with others.

The School aims to have an effective moral education programme infused in the curriculum

  1. Physical Education
The School recognizes the importance of physical fitness and shall encourage students to maintain a high level of fitness. Physical Education is to be taken seriously as a subject in Forms One, Two and Three and the School aims to develop skills in at least two sports and/or games by the time the students leave Tunapuna Government Secondary.
  2. Co- and Extra-Curricular Activities
These have their rightful place in the development of the complete child. A healthy mind is as important as a healthy body. The inclusion of these activities is to allow students to reach beyond academic dimensions so that they can make better all-round contributions to society. The School recognizes that not many students can make it to be a part of the various school teams. Our programme will therefore emphasize mass participation and physical fitness, and is directed at these students who form the bulk of our student population. The School will also encourage our students to be members of uniformed units (cadets, scouts, girl guides) to develop character and leadership qualities besides promoting good habits of discipline and self-respect. Clubs and societies, will cater for the development of students' ability to organize and manage whilst widening their interests and promoting healthy and meaningful leisure activities.
  3. Aesthetic Values
The School believes in developing the individual students' love for and appreciation of art, music and things of aesthetic beauty in order to be able to enjoy life in a more meaningful way and to appreciate our rich cultural heritage.
